Business Analyst – Charlotte, NC ($32/hr)
A W2 contract role on behalf of a banking client. 3 days on site, 2 days remote. 12‑18 month contract at $30‑32/hr.
Position Summary This Business Analyst/Product Owner will lead backlog management activities for a Scrum team on the Financial Center release train, coordinating Agile Release Train ceremonies, driving backlog refinement, and ensuring the ART delivers high‑value solutions.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and facilitate ART ceremonies (Backlog Refinement, PI Planning, ART Sync, System Demo, Retrospective).
Collaborate with Portfolio Manager to maintain a healthy product/program backlog.
Facilitate dependency, risk, and impediment removal for the ART.
Promote communication and collaboration within the ART to support PI commitments.
Provide status updates and reporting on ART plans, delivery, timelines, and impediments to stakeholders and leadership.
Ensure Enterprise Change Management and policy requirements are met for delivered epics/features.
Measure ART delivery, maturity, and performance; review metrics with the ART for improvement opportunities.
Capture data to track product funding and resource needs.
Support overall JIRA reporting and Confluence management.
Capture and translate business and system requirements to achieve business goals.
Decompose epics into user stories, define acceptance criteria, prioritize stories, and conduct backlog refinement.
Ensure user stories meet Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
Use techniques such as process flow diagrams and use cases to create epics/stories.
Collaborate with Product Managers, stakeholders, and Delivery Leads to ensure alignment.
Remove team impediments and participate in team/ART routines.
Support deployment activities, including CRQ deployment approval and quality standards.
Maximize value delivered by the team and support production validation during deployment.
Qualifications
1+ year as a Business Analyst or Product Owner.
Experience gathering and documenting requirements.
Previous banking experience highly preferred.
Knowledge of Agile methods.
Experience using Jira.
Release experience preferred.
