Monitor Tech - Student, TCC Stepdown ICU Job Responsibilities:

Continuously observe patients and recognize actionable conditions; detect changes from baseline and report them to caregivers. Follow monitoring algorithms and document actions taken per guidelines.

Communicate actionable conditions or impending safety risks promptly to RN/RT and provide clear hand‑offs during shift changes.

Perform patient care interventions as delegated by RN/RN, assist with patient transport, help with room setup for admissions and breakdown for discharges, maintain supplies in PPE cabinets and nurse servers, and keep the environment clean and organized following relevant guidelines.

Monitor patients via live video feed and physiologic waveforms; notify staff of urgent/emergent situations based on algorithm output.

Provide direct patient care as delegated by the nurse and support environmental needs through unit stocking, cleaning, and organizing.

Job Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent AND enrollment in an NLN or CCNE accredited nursing program.

Completion of a medical/surgical rotation or listing on the Ohio STNA registry, Ohio CNA (reciprocity within 180 days of hire if out‑of‑state), or listing on the Ohio Emergency Medical Services Registry.

Completion of required Cincinnati Children’s orientation; CPR training and maintenance of certification.

Completion of the CCHMC‑provided Monitor Tech Class and passing scores on the written exam and competency demonstration.
