Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students.

CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi and is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Under the general supervision of the Program Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program, the Program Coordinator II provides general administrative activities that support program activities.

Responsibilities

Coordinates operations of the Program.

Monitors program performance and prepares performance reports.

Provides post-award administrative support including expenditure approvals, accounting detail, and reporting requirements.

Manages community engagement events.

Prepares and maintains statistical records and documents used for progress reports.

Coordinates student activities including orientation, class schedules, recruitment and admissions, alumni relations, and student satisfaction and engagement beyond graduation.

Chooses appropriate, effective ways to communicate to different audiences in diverse situations.

Supports budget planning activities.

Ensures course evaluations are completed by students and faculty.

Under direct supervision may write grant proposals.

Manages student files.

Writes clearly and accurately in a variety of contexts and formats.

Communicates issues promptly.

Schedules meetings, distributes materials, arranges logistics, prepares agenda, and maintains minutes.

Makes conference, travel, and lodging arrangements.

Hours vary based on student availability.

Some weekends may be required.

Some local travel may be required.

Position is onsite.

Education

Bachelor’s degree (or a combination of education and experience); Master’s preferred.

Valid CA driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Experience

Seven to ten years of administrative experience, preferably in higher education.

Experience in student services and counseling.

Skills

Communicates using persuasion and authority.

Maintains high level of confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.

Familiar with Family Nurse Practitioner degree profession.

Builds alliances with other divisions to create opportunities internally and externally.

Arrives at conclusions based on previous experiences and exercises good judgment.

Sets priorities for the Program Director with an appropriate sense of importance and realistic time planning.

Understands the role of the function and how it fits into meeting goals of the division.

Thorough understanding of the discipline.

Local driving may be required.

Mid to advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Bi-lingual a plus.

Experience with Castlebranch.

Experience with MS Office Suite products and Publisher.

Full Time; Annual Salary: $72,000.00 + benefits.
