New Times
is looking for an experienced social media editor to join our audience development team.
The position will connect our journalism and audiences across multiple platforms, build communities, drive traffic to our site, and usher in the next generation of loyal news readers.
As part of our core audience development team, the social media editor will be responsible for our strategy on Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and, new as of last year, Bluesky and Reddit. The position requires collaboration with the editor-in-chief, editors, staff writers, and freelancers; collaboration with marketing and membership team members to promote our membership program; and coordination with our digital sales team to manage social media sponsored content.
Candidates should have a passion for local journalism, Miami, and for helping us reach and connect with new audiences. They should have at least one year of experience managing a media organization’s social media accounts, including content creation, photography, vertical video, and familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Express. Comfort being on camera to tell stories via vertical video is also desirable.
Candidates should be able to provide reports using analytics tools and engagement metrics, have some experience with Meta Business Suite, and be able to understand and act upon insights when appropriate. They should be comfortable working within a constantly-changing industry, eager to test and try new things.
