Reporting to the Vice President, Legal, the Manager, Insurance plays a key role in identifying, assessing, and managing the organization’s insurance and risk exposures. This position requires strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and seniority levels.

The ideal candidate brings a solid understanding of property and casualty insurance, bonds requirements, and core risk management principles. You will proactively evaluate insurance needs across the business, ensure appropriate coverage is in place, and manage claims and broker relationships to protect the company’s operational and financial interests.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a key liaison between internal teams and external insurance partners, ensuring seamless coordination and communication.

Review incoming requests and documentation from internal and external stakeholders; analyze data, coverage terms, policies, and regulatory requirements to support business decisions.

Lead and manage all insurance claims, including complex or escalated matters, ensuring the company’s interests are represented throughout the resolution process.

Coordinate claims correspondence, documentation, reporting, and data collection to support timely and accurate outcomes.

Monitor, analyze, and report on risk exposure trends, recommending mitigation strategies where needed.

Conduct audits and reviews of insurance programs across company assets to ensure coverage consistency, adequacy, and cost efficiency.

Work with brokers and third‑party service providers to support renewals, market submissions, and strategic placement of insurance programs.

Oversee risk engineering surveys, third‑party assessments, and related reporting.

Support surety bonds processes and certificate of insurance (COI) issuance, ensuring compliance with contract requirements for projects and counterparties.

Review insurance and risk‑related provisions in commercial agreements, financing documents, and vendor contracts, providing recommendations to protect business interests.

Assist in insurance‑related reporting for financing partners and regulatory requirements.

Evaluate insurance policies for optimization opportunities and negotiate improvements where appropriate.

Support representation & warranty insurance procurement for acquisitions and divestments.

Monitor insurance market developments (pricing trends, capacity shifts, new products) and communicate insights to internal stakeholders.

Develop and deliver internal training, insurance program summaries, and guidance for operational teams and portfolio companies.

Maintain accurate insurance records, including renewals, claims history, surveys, invoicing, premium allocations, and correspondence.

Assess internal controls related to risk and insurance; identify gaps, propose enhancements, and support implementation.

Prepare and manage premium allocation models and cost‑sharing methodologies across business units.

Support continuous improvement of risk management processes, controls, reporting, and documentation.

Manage onboarding/offboarding of projects and new assets within the organization’s insurance portfolio.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience in risk management, corporate insurance, brokerage, or underwriting.

Professional insurance designations (CIP, FCIP, CRM, ARM or equivalent) are valued but not mandatory.

Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Strategic thinker with advanced analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions and build strong stakeholder relationships.

Experience working with insurers, brokers, and third‑party insurance service providers is considered a strong asset.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.

Skilled at identifying operational and financial risks and recommending practical, cost‑effective controls.

Experience in dynamic, fast‑growing, or multi‑entity organizations is preferred.
