Position Summary Samsung Austin Semiconductor will boost the production of semiconductor solutions that will power next‑generation technologies in areas such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and high‑performance computing (HPC). With greater manufacturing capacity, we will better serve our customers and contribute to the stability of the global semiconductor supply chain.
The Photolithography department focuses on delivering solutions by developing 24×7×365 teams of elite, fab‑oriented, excursion‑free, safety‑and‑quality‑minded members. As part of the Photo Equipment Engineering team, you will support one another and our customers across organizational boundaries.
The Scanner Equipment Engineer will actively transfer next‑generation technology, including ASML Scanner and auxiliary equipment installation, qualification, and recipe transfer.
Role and Responsibilities
ASML Scanner and auxiliary equipment installation, including hardware and product qualification.
Next‑generation technology node transfer including recipes, SOPs, BKMs.
Attend and contribute in daily tactical meetings with ASML and internal teams about photolithography scanner equipment.
Attend and contribute in weekly meetings with ASML and internal teams, including strategic cross‑functional meetings regarding equipment metrics and contribute to department and site improvement plans.
Coordinate Samsung internal, external, and multiple vendor resources to provide optimum manufacturing support on assigned equipment.
Drive hard‑down and atypical tool recovery efforts with hands‑on engineering and complex maintenance activities.
Investigate, troubleshoot and provide technical solutions to equipment‑related defect, quality and yield problems.
Analyze and report tool performance data, including availability, mean time to repair, mean time between failures, particle and defect trends, maintenance success, and similar metrics for assigned equipment.
Provide weekend coverage as needed (approx. 12 weeks a year). You will be responsible for multiple tools on the weekend larger than your normal scope and required to make tactical decisions based on your assessment of the daily operations environment to achieve KPI.
Prioritize your work in alignment with the photo department’s level priorities and understand your part in achieving company goals.
Assist other team members and areas when possible to help meet production goals.
Skills and Qualifications
4 years of college in a related field.
Requires 2+ years of semiconductor scanner/stepper equipment ownership.
In‑depth experience on one or more of the following types of semiconductor equipment: ASML, Canon, Nikon.
Understanding of semiconductor wafer processing fundamentals and photolithography.
Ability to travel internationally as needed.
Ability to frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
