Position Summary Incumbent assists physicians and nurses in the medical care and treatment of orthopedic outpatients and performs clerical functions associated with the operations of a clinical office as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Understanding of medical terminology
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency / Recognition in Medical Assisting Clinical / Back Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Demonstrated completion of extremity immobilization and/or casting workshop within 6 months of hire
BLS certification upon hire
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds
Possible Job Codes • Orthopedic Technician (Job Code 008929) or • Senior Orthopedic Technician (Job Code 008929) dependent upon certification held and experience.
Orthopedic Technician Requirements
Current Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC) from National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists, or
Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) certification from the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals with minimum 2 years of experience working as an Orthopedic Technician
Senior Orthopedic Technician Requirements
Current Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC) from National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists, or
Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) certification from the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals with Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency/Recognition in Medical Assisting Clinical/Back Office
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working as an Orthopedic Tech in an ambulatory setting
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Bilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or Chinese
