Job Summary:
The primary responsibilities include screening, evaluating and providing services to students with communication disorders (articulation, voice, language, fluency) that affect educational performance. The role also involves consultation with teachers and parents and participation in Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings. Physical demands and special requirements include attending school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
Responsibilities
Screen, evaluate, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders in students born to twenty‑one years of age.
Develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives for each individual student and select therapeutic materials effectively for individuals and small groups.
Consult classroom teachers and parents; implement consultative programs through classroom teachers and parents.
Prepare concise clinical reports, develop IEPs and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and maintain complete longitudinal records for each student.
Collaborate with professionals in related disciplines to promote student success.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in speech‑language pathology.
Coursework and demonstrated knowledge in evaluation and therapeutic techniques for communication disorders.
Experience working cooperatively with interdisciplinary professionals and parent counseling/training.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and human relations skills.
Required Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) license or eligible for provisional license (for hires after Oct 1 2007). Prior hires may hold Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification or DHMH license.
American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) desirable or eligible for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
Job Specific Information Teacher Day:
8:45 AM – 4:15 PM
Schedule:
Full‑time, Day Job, 10 working months.
Wage Range:
$64,591 – $131,472 (salary based on education and experience).
