The Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting will lead the company’s technical accounting, financial reporting, and policy functions. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements (if applicable), and maintaining strong internal controls over financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in technical accounting (ASC 842 leases, ASC 810 consolidations, ASC 323 joint ventures) and financial reporting for complex, multi-entity organizations. Experience within the data center, real estate, or infrastructure sectors is highly preferred due to the nature of the company’s leasing and JV structures.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on complex U.S. GAAP accounting matters, including: Lease accounting (ASC 842), Joint venture accounting (ASC 323 / ASC 810)
Prepare and maintain detailed technical accounting memos supporting accounting conclusions for management and auditors.
Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP disclosure requirements.
Oversee preparation of footnote disclosures related to leases, investments, commitments, contingencies, and equity interests.
Coordinate and manage the external audit process, serving as the primary contact for auditors on technical and reporting matters.
Support the Controller in establishing accounting policies, controls, and procedures to enhance financial statement reliability and audit readiness.
Develop and maintain corporate accounting policies and manuals consistent with U.S. GAAP and company operations.
Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 public accounting and corporate technical accounting or financial reporting roles.
Experience with a public REIT company is preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 842 (leases), ASC 810 (consolidations), ASC 323 (equity method).
Proven experience with financial statement preparation and SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q, S-1 preferred).
Hands‑on experience with joint ventures, complex leases, or data center / infrastructure-related transactions preferred.
