Job Summary As a Professional Development Manager, you will focus on the development of attorneys across California offices. You will serve as a key member of the Learning & Professional Development Team, supporting office leadership in integration, performance reviews, talent management, coaching, training, and professional development initiatives for CA attorneys.

Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate with the Sr. Manager of Onboarding/Integration, Talent Acquisition Managers, HR Regional Managers, and Office Administrators to facilitate orientation and integration of new attorneys.

Support the summer associate program as requested.

Collaborate with talent teams on office-level performance management; serve as manager of the performance process for offices as needed.

Provide 1:1 professional development advising on professional skills such as time management, deadline management, and communication.

Act as a resource for associates, Of Counsel, and principals regarding day-to-day questions.

Support the development of individual development plans for associates.

Facilitate attorney meetings and training sessions on professional development topics in coordination with the Litigation Training Coach.

Design and develop PD programming for attorneys at different career stages, covering leadership, management, mentoring, teamwork, client service, business development, presentation skills, creative problem solving, innovation, and design thinking.

Recommend ideas for local mentoring program implementation, enhancements, discussion topics, and training resources.

Contribute to other PD initiatives and complete special projects as needed.

Skills and Educational Requirements

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; ability to build trust and gain buy-in from firm leaders and stakeholders.

Excellent attention to detail, organizational, teamwork, and communication skills.

Solution-driven with outstanding project management skills across multiple locations and matrixed organizations.

Creative thinking and ability to generate innovative solutions.

Ability to take ownership of multiple projects and see them through to completion.

Experience in adult learning and training design.

Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree required; JD or Master’s in a relevant field highly preferred.

Minimum 3+ years of attorney professional development experience.

Coaching certification a plus.

Significant experience in a large law firm preferred; demonstrated success establishing and managing robust training and career development functions in a national or multi-office environment.

Location: Los Angeles, California (or any California office)

Expected salary range in California: $120,000 - $145,000. Total compensation will be based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
