Who We’re Looking For
The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 with the Specimen Procurement Team at the University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake. You will play a vital role in the diagnostic process of laboratory testing, performing specimen processing tasks, blood draws, and delivering excellent customer service to influence timely and accurate patient diagnosis.
Work Schedule
100% FTE Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring manager Night shift
What You’ll Contribute
Perform Specimen Process Activities:
Receive, sort, and prioritize specimens and requests, match specimens against requisitions for appropriate tube type, centrifuge and aliquot specimens, process timed urine collections, review entries for all reference lab testing, and perform blood draws on patients. Perform Customer Service:
Respond promptly, courteously, and professionally to inquiries from patients, clients, and hospital and laboratory staff. Share Your Knowledge:
Orient and train new employees, participate in performance improvement activities, and support the hospital in meeting JCAHO, CLIA, and CAP accreditation standards. Utilize Problem‑Solving Skills:
Resolve specimen and order‑related problems in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner and provide appropriate documentation for supervisor review.
What You’ll Need
High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience. Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Additional DLMP Requirement
Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA‑P) certification with the Washington State Department of Health OR obtain the MA‑P certification within 180 days of start date.
Desired Qualifications
Associate or bachelor’s degree in science. Experience in a major medical hospital laboratory. Experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Compensation, Benefits And Position Details
Pay Range Minimum: $54,828.00 annually. Pay Range Maximum: $78,420.00 annually.
