About The Team The Maritime Manufacturing Technology Team rapidly develops and implements manufacturing materials, technologies, and processes for cutting‑edge defense hardware, including deployable static and moving surface, undersea, and sea‑to‑air vehicles. The team is scaling these products in new manufacturing facilities.
About The Job The role is based out of Costa Mesa, CA or Seattle, WA (travel required). As a Lead Welding Engineer, you will develop machining and manufacturing plans that include mounting, tooling, and NC programming for complex machine parts.
What You’ll Do
Develop, innovate, and lead tooling, programming, and machining solutions for new processes and technologies supporting product and factory development.
Question requirements in product and production design to ensure cost‑ and schedule‑effective solutions that meet product needs.
Support design, construction, commissioning, and start‑up of the production systems at new factory sites, focusing on machining and NC programming to deliver successful production lines.
Lead by example and expedite project completion.
Drive collaboration with product design, manufacturing engineering, operations, facilities, environmental safety & health, and finance to deliver creative and effective production system designs, and coordinate external vendors for new facility construction.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of experience as a programmer and machining expert for large‑part machining with hard metals and exotic materials.
Technology development experience in machining, automation, prototyping, and process development.
Hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment, working closely with operations and manufacturing engineering.
Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export‑controlled information or facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior work with architecture and infrastructure engineering partners and/or general contractors to build, improve, or modify machining systems.
US Salary Range $191,000—$253,000 USD. This range is an estimate; actual offers vary by experience, education, critical skills, and business considerations.
