About The Team The Maritime Manufacturing Technology Team is responsible for rapidly developing and implementing manufacturing materials, technologies, and processes for cutting‑edge defense hardware, including deployable static and moving surface, undersea and sea‑to‑air vehicles, and scaling these products in our new manufacturing facilities.
About The Job The Welding Automation Engineer will be based in Costa Mesa, CA, or Seattle, WA, with the ability to travel.
As a Welding Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing machining and manufacturing plans that include mounting, tooling and NC programming for complicated machine parts.
What You’ll Do
Develop, innovate, and lead in the tooling, programming and machining solutions for new machining processes and technologies supporting product and factory development.
Question requirements in product and production design, and manufacturing processes to ensure the most cost‑ and schedule‑effective solutions for our factories that meet the needs of our products.
Support design, construction, commissioning and start‑up of the production systems at new factory sites, specifically in the areas of machining and NC programming, ensuring successful delivery of the factory and products off the line.
Lead hands‑on: set an example and expedite project completion.
Drive collaboration with product design, manufacturing engineering, operations, facilities and construction, environmental safety & health, and finance to deliver creative and effective production system designs, as well as external vendors supporting the design, construction, and commissioning of new facilities.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of experience as a programmer and machining expert for large‑part machining with hard metals and exotic materials.
Technology development experience in machining, automation, prototyping, and process development.
Ability to work hands‑on in a manufacturing environment, next to operations and manufacturing engineering to understand and optimize the production system.
Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export‑controlled information or facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior work with architecture and infrastructure engineering partners and/or general contractors to build, improve or modify machining systems.
Salary Range $191,000—$253,000 USD (US roles; salary may vary based on experience, education, and business considerations. Equity grants are included on most full‑time offers.)
