Position Summary
Catalent, Inc. is a leading global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), and Catalent’s San Diego facility focuses on early‑stage development of small molecule and peptide drug candidates from the bench to the clinic. This facility offers an array of services that support oral and injectable dosage forms that include preformulation testing, formulation and analytical development, cGMP manufacturing and clinical packaging, labeling, and worldwide distribution. Our San Diego location is the home of our Catalent Spray Drying technologies with downstream roller compaction capabilities to support the needs of our client’s most challenging compounds.
Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday, core hours 8am‑4:30pm. 100% on‑site (San Diego).
The Role
Develop plans and processes (in compliance and coordination with the global functions and company policies) to deliver the strategic plan for the Division and the site; work to monitor the execution of the plans using current KPIs of the function and the division and work to improve the KPIs to measure performance and client satisfaction.
Project Execution – participate in project kick‑off meetings. Determine timing (start date, duration of activities) of project onboarding based on capacity, backlog and constraints (facility, equipment, personnel). Compile a risk assessment containing mitigation strategies and contingency plans, provide project team members to generate a contact matrix, develop a communication plan with the client, including an issue escalation pathway consistent with that of the Global Program Team where appropriate.
Project Completion – ensure all projects are appropriately closed out with respect to documentation of activities, material disposition, resolving compliance items and financial gains realized. Comply with all Catalent Safety Standards, OSHA and environmental requirements at all times. Proactively evaluate safety issues and address. Encourage a working environment which encourages input from all personnel. Represent site management as needed for new and ongoing projects. Provide an avenue for issue escalation for client complaints. Prioritize activities that balance client and Operations deliverables.
Personnel Management – ensure that competent personnel are recruited, selected, trained and developed; provide for fair and accurate performance evaluations on an annual basis. Identify personnel for recognition and remediation by providing appropriate coaching and feedback on a regular basis. Ensure the project management team are trained and developed appropriately to meet the needs of the business and allow individuals to reach their full potential.
Finance and Metrics – determine budgetary requirements each fiscal year, manage the monthly P&L statements, provide accurate financial forecasts on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis, identify needed capital to support Operations activities, provide timely and accurate reporting of operational metrics and identify appropriate actions based on observed trends.
Site Leadership – as a member of the Site Leadership team, participate in activities that involve cross‑site impact such as identifying strategic direction, crisis management, safety and compliance. Assist the Site General Manager in establishing strategic direction for the site and setting objectives to maximize the value of the site. Be an active member of the site leadership team representing Project Management, participating in site decisions and initiatives and striving to meet site revenue, metrics and goals.
Provide effective support to teams as required and be the point of escalation for issues that Senior PM Managers, Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Associate Project Managers and Coordinators need support to resolve. Partners with Sales to support the winning of new business and continuous liaison with Sales in terms of changes in scope of work, and future contract opportunities.

The Candidate
Bachelor’s of Science degree is required.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in client‑facing, project management or scientific environment having previously participated in the organization of: Profit & Loss (P&L), strategic plan, budget, and financial planning of a private business.
Requires knowledge of Catalent lines of business and pharmaceutical/biotech industries.
Requires leadership, negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills – fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.
Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
Physical Requirements: Individual needs to be accessible to lab and office staff and able to use required office equipment. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently.
Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role in California is $195,000 to $205,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi‑state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
