Position: Civil Engineer III
Location: Irvine, CA / Corona, CA / Idaho / Chicago, IL / Schaumburg, IL / Davenport, IA / Overland Park, KS
Years of Experience: 5+ Years
Role Overview RTM Engineering Consultants is a Civil, MEP, and Structural engineering firm that partners with clients to achieve project goals. This role focuses on land development across K‑12, higher education, commercial, restaurant, office, municipal, park district, historic preservation, and infrastructure improvement projects across the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Apply civil engineering principles to design land development projects including drainage, stormwater, water, sanitary sewer, parking, and roadways.
Use Civil 3D software to prepare exhibits and construction documents.
Design stormwater and storm sewer systems for permitting and site development projects.
Review regulations and standards necessary for project design and permitting work.
Analyze topographic, geologic, and survey data to plan and design projects.
Make independent decisions on engineering problems and methods under general guidance from Senior Engineers.
Ensure accuracy and quality of engineering design, reports, and plans while maintaining conformance to budgets and schedules.
Perform site investigations and provide on‑site construction observation services.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong project coordination and delegation skills.
EIT certificate (required).
Experience leading and managing small to medium scale projects.
Comprehension of codes, standards, and regulations.
Expertise preparing and reviewing detailed engineering plans, calculations, and specifications.
Ability to mentor junior engineers and manage multi‑disciplinary project teams.
Strong client management and communication skills, including addressing client needs and expectations.
Experience assisting with QA/QC processes.
Exceptional communication skills required.
Ability to assist with estimation and scheduling of project design tasks.
Understanding of survey, data collection, and construction methods; periodic site visits under Senior Engineer direction.
Qualifications
Familiarity with project management methodologies.
Effective client communication and relationship management.
Proficiency ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and permitting processes.
Involvement in business development activities such as proposal writing and client acquisition.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (preferred).
Skills
Team‑oriented, professional, self‑starter with a positive attitude and multi‑tasking capability.
Travel Requirements
Travel anticipated between 0‑10%.
Estimated Starting Salary Range $85,000.00 to $105,000.00
