General Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s financial records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial data. This role involves preparing and analyzing financial reports, performing reconciliations, processing transactions, assisting with budgeting, and supporting audits. The Senior Accountant ensures adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal policies while providing timely and accurate financial information to support decision-making.
This position will report to the Controller.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.
Assist Controller and CFO in developing and maintaining the company’s annual budget and forecasts, including proformas.
Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closing entries to finalize financial records and reports.
Perform cost allocations to distribute expenses appropriately across departments and projects.
Reconcile general ledger accounts to maintain accurate financial records and identify discrepancies.
Manage treasury functions, including cash flow monitoring and forecasting to ensure adequate liquidity.
Conduct bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of bank statements and internal financial records.
Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
Project Accounting: Tracking expenses, revenues, and budgets to ensure project profitability and adherence to budget.
Job Cost Analysis: Conducting in-depth analysis of job costs to identify variances and trends.
Project Accounts Payable (AP): Processing invoices and ensuring timely payments, while verifying and reconciling expenses. Managing the regular payouts to subcontractors and vendors.
Project Accounts Receivable (AR): Generating and sending invoices in compliance with contract terms and monitoring and collecting receivables.
Project Reporting: Preparing regular financial reports for management review and presenting data effectively.
General Ledger (GL) & Journal Entries: Maintaining and updating the general ledger with accurate financial data.
Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting: Preparing and analyzing WIP schedules to track project progress.
Assisting in Month-End Close: Supporting the Financial Controller in month-end closing activities.
Any other duties, as necessary, to drive to the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the organization.
Skills / Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
5+ years accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in cash management, general ledger reconciliation, account analysis, and regulatory reporting.
Familiarity with accounting software including Vantagepoint
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Requirements – Work Environment
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, calculators, copiers, and printers.
Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching to retrieve files and office materials.
Manual dexterity sufficient to input data, handle documents, and use a keyboard efficiently.
Visual acuity to read and analyze financial data, spreadsheets, and reports.
Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and in writing.
May occasionally need to lift or move items up to 20 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies, or equipment).
Daily Work Location/Hours This position requires employees to work in an ARRO office on a regular basis. Hybrid work opportunities are generally available once employees meet the expectations set by their supervisor, which consider experience, demonstrated understanding of ARRO’s processes, and ability to collaborate effectively.
