125 Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or higher. One (1) year of animal welfare experience in companion pet care, husbandry, or animal training. Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent. Euthanasia Technician Certification within six (6) months of appointment. Basic Animal Control Officer Certification within one (1) year of appointment. Responsibilities
Canvass assigned areas to locate animals in violation of animal regulation laws and ordinances. Capture, transport, and impound animals using nets, ropes, and other devices. Investigate complaints, animal bite cases, and animal cruelty and nuisance investigations. Verify animal licenses and rabies vaccinations. Explain and enforce animal regulation laws, ordinances, and procedures. Issue warnings or citations for violations and present cases in court. Maintain accurate documentation, tracking, and automated record keeping. Represent the department in media engagements and public outreach efforts. Benefits
