Clallam County is seeking candidates for the position of Juvenile Corrections Officer.

Individuals in this role will perform activities related to the receipt, booking, custody, and care of juveniles under court jurisdiction, following established policies and procedures. The role emphasizes fair treatment of inmates and proper discipline.

Candidates are typically those with no prior juvenile detention experience or whose capabilities are unknown. They will undergo training to learn specific policies, procedures, and practices at the Youth Services Center. Initially, work is performed under close supervision until proficiency is demonstrated.

Assigned to specific shifts, employees may be called upon at any time to respond to incidents or situations at the facility. They are expected to perform activities related to the operation of the Youth Services Center conscientiously, proficiently, and independently.

Education/Training

High school diploma or GED is required. An AA degree in a related field is preferred, or a combination of training and experience satisfactory to the Director of Juvenile Services may be substituted. The candidate must be able to obtain Washington State Juvenile Corrections Personnel Academy Certification within six months of employment.
