Job Overview As an Information Technology (IT) Examiner, you will conduct the IT General Controls (ITGC) portion of risk‑focused statutory examinations for state insurance regulators. Your role involves planning, scoping, and executing ITGC reviews, evaluating governance and controls of insurers’ IT environments, and assessing cybersecurity risks and controls. You will also work closely with client representatives, internal auditors, and other team members to ensure comprehensive examination coverage.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze statutory laws, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to insurers' IT environments.
Apply the Risk‑Focused approach in IT examinations following the NAIC Financial Condition Examiners Handbook.
Evaluate and leverage the work of external professionals, including CPAs, internal auditors, and SOC report analysts.
Participate in discussions and interviews with insurer representatives regarding IT governance and controls.
Support the Examiner‑in‑Charge and the examination team with IT governance and control documentation.
Maintain proficiency with TeamMate software and other electronic tools used in examinations.
Manage multiple projects and client engagements simultaneously.
Communicate status updates to clients, supervisors, and team members on a regular basis.
Assist in budget and timeline management, providing advance notice of project status to supervisors.
Ensure timely completion of work products, identifying opportunities for improvement and resolving potential issues.
Participate in performance reviews and professional development activities to expand knowledge of IT audit procedures and relevant standards.
Prepare and convey clear conclusions and summary memos of findings to stakeholders.
Requirements / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
Preferred minimum 2 years evaluating IT governance and controls.
Preferred CISA designation or ability to work toward obtaining the CISA designation.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
