The Department of Radiology is currently seeking a per diem MRI Technologist to work in Miami.
The MRI Technologist - Per Diem performs procedures in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) through the operations of radiographic equipment to obtain the highest quality of diagnostic images. The incumbent oversees designated areas, procedures and equipment.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Obtains and examines the order for an MRI scan to be aware of information such as procedures requested, patient’s condition and any other special notes or comments.
Ensures orders are appropriate to the type of exam recommended by physician. Notifies supervisor of any discrepancies and/or contacts physician’s office for correct orders if necessary.
Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
Verifies the patient’s ID by checking their name and date of birth on electronic medical record and patient’s wristband. Always obtains necessary consents and education.
Performs complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of MRI scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed safety procedures under the direction/supervision of a Radiologist using age-appropriate standards of practice.
Integrates diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapts exam as necessary. Adheres to MRI protocols to maintain high quality standards.
Assists positioning patients in required anatomical position for display of body for MRI scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
Maintains proper aseptic technique utilizing universal precaution guidelines (hand washing, gloves, gown, mask, eye protection and equipment disinfection).
Assists radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
Evaluates MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to PACS.
Adheres to any regulatory body guidelines governing modality including but not limited to: Joint Commission, AHCA, ACR, FL DOH and FDA/MQSA.
Assist with the day-to-day operations within the department.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
Valid State of Florida General Radiographer license required; Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements
