As a Corporate Counsel, you will act as a strategic legal partner, helping the water technology business transform communities through sustainability, resource regeneration, and decarbonization.

Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including customer/supplier agreements, procurement contracts, MOUs/LOIs, confidentiality agreements and other legal documents.

Manage disputes and claims, including post‑execution issues such as change orders, design defects, breach of contract and arbitration proceedings.

Provide project management support to ensure smooth contract negotiation, execution and legal issue resolution.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Offer commercially minded, high‑quality, strategic and timely legal advice to internal stakeholders on all legal matters.

Represent Veolia in legal proceedings and negotiations with external parties.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with external counsel.

Support continuous improvement of legal operations projects and processes, including drafting contract templates such as global framework and inter‑company agreements.

Design and deliver legal training to the business.

Conduct legal research and analysis of laws and regulations that impact the business.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

5–8 years of experience in commercial law, with at least 3 years in an in‑house counsel role.

Commercial negotiations and transactional experience.

Outstanding negotiation, drafting and analytical skills.

Good knowledge of dispute‑resolution mechanisms.

High integrity and excellent business acumen and judgement, with the ability to translate complex legal matters for non‑legal audiences.

Excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.

Experience in environmental compliance matters or government contracts (e.g., FAR/DFARS) is highly regarded.

Bar member in good standing and licensed to practice law.

Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced global organization.

Nice to Have

Fluency in French or Spanish.

Prior experience in the water technologies or engineering sector.

Location & Work Style

Hybrid role: on‑site 3 days a week and remote 2 days a week.

Eligible locations include Leonia, NJ; Trevose, PA; Minnetonka, MN; Richmond, VA; Boulder, CO; and Plainfield, IL.

Estimated travel 20%, including some international travel.

Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $123,000 – $150,000 USD. Annual incentive plan bonus up to 10% of base.
