Summary The Quality Engineer is responsible for improving product quality by identifying and reducing variation in the inputs to manufacturing and other business operations. The Quality Engineer will drive customer satisfaction by improving products and processes through Corrective Actions, Preventative Actions, failure mode effects analysis. The Quality Engineer will also work across department lines to establish metrics to monitor effectiveness of processes and corrective actions, adjusting as necessary.
Responsibilities
Identify product and process failure modes and aid in developing prevention and detection methods
Develop control plans to ensure adherence to critical to quality requirements for products
Drive development and implementation of improvements to business and manufacturing processes
Investigate and resolve issues impacting customer satisfaction
Drive development and implementation of corrective actions resulting from non-conformances
Develop and maintain key performance indicators and supporting data collection systems
Lead implementation of basic and advanced quality control and assurance tools
Assess fit, form, and function of products and/or components to specifications
Assess effectiveness of assembly methods, training, and documentation, and drive changes as necessary
Monitor and respond to audit results of work-in-process and finished-goods
Lead and help others with small projects
Perform other duties as required or assigned
Required Skills
Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a strong personal drive for success.
Able to collect, compile, analyze and interpret data
Organization and time management skills are critical
Advanced functional understanding and familiarization with FMEA, control plans, APQP, MSA, Capability Studies, and related quality tools is critical
Advanced functional understanding and familiarization with multiple root cause analysis tools and problem-solving strategies
Ability to lead, persuade, and collaborate with teammates across department functions to drive implementation of best practices for organizational success.
Understanding statistical sampling and acceptance quality limits
Advanced functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs
Ability to operate and read various metrology tools, including but not limited to calipers, micrometer, protractor
Ability to work effectively as a team as well as independently when assigned tasks
Able to overcome obstacles and achieve results
Familiarization with ERP system operations
Qualifications Require
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
5-10 years of experience as a Quality Engineer or Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment
Experience working within ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management system standards
Working experience supporting or owning APQP and PPAPs in whole or in part
Prefer
HVAC experience is a strong plus
Project management experience is a strong plus
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus
