Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and personable Front Desk Receptionist to join our endocrinology practice. This position is the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations, patient satisfaction, and efficient front office management.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and check‑in patients in a warm, professional manner.
Confirm patient demographics and update insurance information.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
Check out patients and schedule follow‑up visits.
Phone & Communication Management
Answer incoming calls and route them appropriately.
Respond to general inquiries and assist with appointment scheduling.
Relay messages between patients and clinical staff by office protocol.
Administrative & Operational Duties
Verify insurance eligibility; obtain necessary pre‑authorizations.
Collect copayments and balances at check‑in/check‑out.
Maintain and update electronic medical records (EHR).
Process referrals and prior authorizations.
Compliance & Office Maintenance
Adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality policies.
Maintain a clean and organized front desk and waiting area.
Monitor front office supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
Check‑In Duties
Register individuals by collecting and verifying their demographic and insurance information, completing paperwork, and ensuring all necessary forms are filled out.
Collect copays or other fees for services rendered or accommodations, posting charges to patient account as appropriate.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
1–2 years of medical office or front desk experience preferred, especially in a specialty practice.
Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, etc.).
Knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and multitasking skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Bilingual English and Spanish fluency a plus.
Working Conditions
Office‑based within a medical practice environment.
May require occasional travel between clinic sites for coverage, if applicable.
Sitting, standing, and/or walking for long periods of time while interacting with patients.
Schedule
Monday to Friday / practice hours.
Occasional weekends as needed based on business needs.
