Unit Secretary – 3 Marian – Per Diem Weekend Evenings
Holy Name Medical Center invites applications for the Unit Secretary role, a per diem position that supports nursing unit operations during weekend evening shifts.
Brief Overview The Unit Secretary assists nursing staff by performing clerical duties that sustain the efficient functioning of the unit. Strong customer‑service skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with patients and families are essential for enhancing the overall patient experience.
What You Will Do
Assist the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator or Charge Nurse in the effective functioning of the nursing unit, coordinating information and communicating with other departments and physicians.
Check unit inventories, storeroom supplies, and place orders as indicated by the Nurse Manager.
Welcome newly admitted patients, orienting them to their room and the patient engagement system.
Assemble and prepare admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Ensure charts are completed in the proper sequence and placed in the appropriate areas for Health Information Services pick‑up upon patient discharge or chart thinning.
Assist patients with non‑clinical requests.
Answer the telephone, take and relay messages, and provide information as appropriate.
Respond to the patient call bell system and immediately refer to RN or PCT, following up as necessary.
Coordinate patient transport to and from special tests, procedures, and discharges.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
One year of continued education (Preferred).
Experience Qualifications
1–3 years preferred; one to two years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Familiarity with medical terminology and office equipment (Medium proficiency).
Computer literacy (Medium proficiency).
