Unit Secretary - Cardiac/Telemetry (1N) - Full Time Days
Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $24.50/hr

The nursing unit relies on clerical support to assist with information coordination, unit organization, and communication with other departments and physicians. This role involves regular interaction with patients and families to enhance the overall patient experience by responding to requests and alerting appropriate staff. Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude are essential.
What You Will Do
Assist the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator and/or Charge Nurse in the effective and efficient functioning of the nursing unit, including coordination of information, unit organization, and communication with other departments and physicians
Check unit inventories, storeroom, and other supplies and place orders as indicated by the Nurse Manager
Welcome newly admitted patients and orient them to their room and patient engagement system
Assemble and prepare for admissions, transfers, and discharges
Ensure charts are completed and properly sequenced for Health Information Services
Assist patients with non-clinical requests
Answer phones, relay messages, and provide information as appropriate
Respond to the patient call bell system and refer to RN or PCT as needed; follow up as necessary
Coordinate patient transport to and from special tests, procedures, and discharges
Perform other duties as assigned
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Continued education preferred
Experience Qualifications
1-3 years preferred; one to two years of experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Familiarity with medical terminology and office equipment (medium proficiency)
Computer-literate (medium proficiency)
