The Microbiology Lab Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the microbiology laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and high-quality data output. This role supports a team of microbiologists and lab technicians by managing resources, coordinating schedules, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
– Supervise microbiology lab staff, including scheduling, training, mentoring, and performance evaluations. Operational Oversight
– Oversee sample receipt, processing, and testing workflows (e.g., bioburden, endotoxin, sterility, environmental monitoring). Ensure timely and accurate completion of testing in accordance with SOPs and client requirements. Manage inventory of media, reagents, and consumables; coordinate with procurement and vendors. Compliance & Safety
Ensure adherence to cGMP, GLP, ISO, and other regulatory standards. Maintain a clean and safe lab environment; conduct regular safety audits and inspections. Support internal and external audits, including CAPA implementation and documentation. Process Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance lab efficiency and reduce turnaround time. Collaborate with QA and other departments to streamline workflows and resolve bottlenecks. Documentation & Reporting
Review and approve lab documentation, including test records, logbooks, and deviation reports. Generate operational metrics and performance reports for management. Ensure data integrity and compliance with data governance policies. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related scientific field; advanced degree preferred. 3+ years of experience in a microbiology lab, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques and regulatory requirements. Experience working in a GMP setting. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency in LIMS, Microsoft Office, and lab instrumentation. Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship. What We Offer
