General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific assigned area of the Store and for general operations and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly and easy shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and maintaining a clean work area. Supervisors also execute and oversee company operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
Prioritise safety and practice safe behaviours in all tasks.
Maintain high sales‑floor awareness to create a safe environment, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions promptly.
Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pickups and register area.
Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
Ensure customer safety through accident prevention, reporting and emergency procedures.
Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
Treat all customers, associates and leaders with respect.
Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness and professionalism at all times; recognise associates through company programmes.
Personal and Store Brand
Represent and support the company brand at all times.
Maintain a professional appearance per the dress code and enforce it for all associates.
Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained and merchandised to standard.
Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns meet company standards through teaching, assigning tasks and follow‑up.
Receive merchandise truck when required and process all merchandise urgently.
Process all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries and maintain stockroom cleanliness and organisation.
Assist with moving and placing merchandise on the sales floor once processed.
Secure and process back‑stock per company policy and reduce loss due to damage.
Meet monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
Conduct floor moves, signing and promotional signing as needed; re‑wrap when required.
Loss Prevention
Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong customer service presence.
Act with integrity and honesty in all associations; safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
Maintain the Public View Monitor (PVM) system.
Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
Execute best practices to maximise productivity and minimise steps and touches.
Front End Supervision and Operations
Implement best practices to maximize productivity and minimise unnecessary steps.
Maintain pace, energy and presence at the front end, managing the line to expedite customer wait time.
Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other front‑end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards.
Control retail associate break schedules for backups, lunches and breaks.
Ensure all equipment is working properly and supplies are adequate.
Ensure go‑backs are expedited, properly scanned, security tagged and ticketed.
Teach all associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
Improve salability of merchandise on the front end, aisle tables, men’s/women’s 4‑way features and specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
Maintain and clean fitting rooms.
Audit and account for all fitting‑room garment tags per policy.
Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day; all returned merchandise must be ticketed, scanned, nubbed and security tagged as needed.
Administrative Duties As Assigned By Store Manager
Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits per company policy.
Exercise front‑end control during refunds, associate purchases, and other cash‑handling procedures.
Administer payroll, including daily punch edits, associates’ scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission and payroll reporting as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Physical Requirements / ADA
Use of all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs.
Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100 % of working time.
Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lb.
Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
Stockroom shifts may require pushing or pulling more than 20 lb.
