General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, keep a clean work area, and execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

Practices safe behaviors as safety is the number one priority.

Maintains awareness on the sales floor, corrects or reports unsafe conditions, and protects building security including entrance/exit control and register area.

Ensures safe egress, conducts fire alarm tests, and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.

Customer Service

Treats all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect and demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.

Recognizes Associates using company recognition programs.

Personal and Store Brand

Represents and supports the company brand at all times.

Maintains a professional appearance and ensures all Associates adhere to the dress code.

Keeps all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.

Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress.

General Merchandising

Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up.

Manages receiving merchandise, processes all inbound deliveries, and keeps stockrooms organized.

Helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor, secures back‑stock, and executes floor moves and promotional signing.

Reduces loss due to damage, complies with monthly presentation guidelines, and performs re‑wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention

Complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintains a large customer‑service presence on the sales floor, and engages associates.

Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise and ensures the Public View Monitor system is maintained.

Conducts “Code 50” package inspections and executes best practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations

Ensures Associates execute front‑end procedures to company standards and trains/coaches on cash registers and shortage control.

Manages line pace, energy, and presence to expedite customer wait time.

Maintains proper supplies, recovery, and equipment functionality at the front end.

Ensures go‑backs are expedited, scanned, security‑tagged, and ticketed.

Teaches the “Scan and Bag” best practice and ensures salability of merchandise on the front end.

Fitting Rooms

Maintains cleanliness of fitting rooms and audits garment tags per policy.

Ensures go‑back compliance and that returned merchandise is ticketed, scanned, and security‑tagged.

Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager

Conducts cash pulls and bank deposits per company policy.

Controls front‑end cash procedures and adheres to refund and register policies.

Manages payroll administration, scheduling compliance, and Sunday payroll transmission.

Performs other duties assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Fluency in English.

Prior customer‑service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Uses all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.

Spends up to 100% of time standing, walking, and moving around the store.

Regularly bends, squats, kneels, climbs, carries, reaches, and stoops.

Occasionally pushes, pulls, and lifts more than 25 lbs.

Uses janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.

Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 lbs.
