Tribute Baking Company is the strategic combination of four businesses with rich histories in the baking industry: Always Bagels, Original Bagel, Dutch Maid, and Hometown Foods USA. Together, they create a market-leading producer of authentic New York style kettle-boiled, hearth-baked bagels and high-quality cake products sold into the in-store bakery, club store, foodservice, and convenience store channels.

The Q.A. Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Coordinator and is responsible for performing all Quality Department practices, including collecting and interpreting SPC and SQC data daily, recording results from production and packing line audits for HACCP and GMP, collecting data on temperatures, weights, and defects, and assisting in educating all plant employees in the practices of producing safe edible goods.

The Q.A. Technician will partner with other members of the facility (production, maintenance, sanitation, etc.) to ensure adherence to the plant's process-control program and maximize operational efficiency in a culture of continuous improvement.

The Q.A. Technician will report to the Quality Assurance Manager for all out-of-compliance materials and conditions in the facility and will contain all non-conforming products and materials, and isolate and hold all substandard ingredients, work in progress, and finished goods.

The Quality Assurance Technician is based in our Medley, FL location.

Responsibilities

Perform visual inspections of in-progress and finished products.

Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.

Calibrate, validate, or maintain measuring equipment.

Conduct and document GMP plant walkthroughs at given frequency and report findings to the supervisor and/or QA Manager.

Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.

Supply quality control data necessary for regulatory submissions.

Communicate with co-workers to promote productivity and responsiveness.

Suggest improvements and possible ways to complete a task more effectively to supervision and co-workers.

Train other employees as needed or when asked.

Work in a safe manner, in compliance with Company, State and Federal OSHA, GMPs, SOPs, and other company policies and procedures within a BRC environment.

Ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays and emergencies, as needed.

Work effectively as part of a team and display a positive attitude.

Complete assigned housekeeping duties as required.

Any other duties as assigned.

Food Safety Responsibilities

Support Quality Assurance Head by verifying employee compliance to HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs and safety procedures within all plant processing areas.

Support all management personnel to observe Hometown Foods BRC Systems.

Maintain the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures.

Report food safety problems to a supervisor or manager.

Safety Responsibilities

Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules.

Report unsafe observations or conditions to a supervisor or manager.

Immediately report an injury or accident to a supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

A High School or Trade School Diploma or equivalent.

Working knowledge of basic math and reading skills.

Ability to work independently or in a group/team atmosphere.

Good organizational and time management skills.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the plant.

HACCP certification is a plus.

Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).

Must be well organized, able to work on several projects at once and prioritize.

Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation and teamwork with production operators to maintain and troubleshoot plant issues.

Must enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic form.

Must be able to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

Use relevant information and judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.

Promote company culture.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Maintains composure in dealing with difficult situations; demonstrates a positive attitude.

Physical Requirements The Quality Assurance Technician will be required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, overhead reach, perform fine manipulation, move continuously during work hours, and may lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.

Schedule: 2 PM - 10 PM (5 days per week). Availability between 10 PM and 2 AM is required on some days.

Salary: $18 - $20 per hour.
