Civil Engineer/Project Manager - Urban Development
Role Description:
Huitt-Zollars, Inc has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer (Eng V) with
8-10 years
of experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer for our
Fort Worth office . This role will work on Civil Engineer projects in our Urban Development Practice Area and provide leadership, guide business development, and manage projects in the local Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area (and beyond as needed).

Duties
Prepare preliminary engineering reports
Research jurisdictional requirements for incorporation into design and construction drawings
Prepare proposals/contract and project work plans and schedules
Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and research data
Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work
Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS
Conduct site visits and document findings
Work directly with clients and lead staff with varied experience
Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence
Write or prepare graphic materials for presentations or documents
Lead a team of engineers and drafters
Initiate and lead kickoff calls or high‑level design calls with clients, prepare monthly forecasts and client cost estimates when appropriate
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and follow comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project, ensuring proper staff is assigned and utilized.
Review project reports and performance metrics to track progress and budget, leading successful projects (profit, on‑schedule, quality, satisfied client).
Contribute to successful delivery and performance of projects.
Cultivate relationships with clients and maintain strong client relationships.
Understand, follow, and enforce Huitt‑Zollars' business process, including weekly rhythm.
Take active steps in pursuing new business or opportunities with existing clients; may be responsible for a portion of office sales goal, assist or lead team in pursuing new work.
Develop and/or execute project win strategy.
Understand and follow HZ QMS and quality initiatives, ensuring quality control measures are adhered to.
Actively engage in training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
Maintain job knowledge and technical skills, keeping them current.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
Registered Professional Engineer in Texas
8‑10 years of civil engineering design experience with at least 2 years as Project Manager
Experience producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports
Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D (plus)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
Ability to work independently in a team and manage multiple projects with limited supervision
Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely
Must work directly with clients and lead a staff of varied experience
Ability to train staff and review work for quality assurance
Strong leadership, self‑motivation, and skill in meeting deadlines and solving complex problems
Highly organized and detail oriented
Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented
Consistent proactive communication with clients; escalates issues promptly
Develop relationships with clients that facilitate communication and problem‑solving
Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, implementing and documenting for stakeholders
