We are seeking a skilled and experienced
Electro-Mechanical Technician (EMT)
with a strong background in food manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing both electrical and mechanical systems in a food production environment. This role is critical in ensuring plant equipment runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Install and maintain motors, sensors, drives, conveyors, gearboxes, and automated equipment.
Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, PLC interfaces, and motor testers.
Follow GMP, HACCP, and other food safety protocols during all maintenance work.
Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities using CMMS (e.g., UpKeep, SAP, or other platforms).
Assist in equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement projects.
Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly and support production needs.
Support cross-functional teams in maintaining high standards of equipment reliability and plant performance.
Participate in safety meetings, training, and audits.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational certification or associate degree.
Minimum 3 years of EMT experience in a food manufacturing environment a plus.
Strong understanding of food safety practices (GMP, HACCP, SQF, etc.).
Proven ability to work with 3-phase systems, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, and mechanical assemblies.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with CMMS platforms.
Qualifications
OSHA safety training or certification
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Lean Manufacturing or TPM experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and climb ladders/stairs for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in a food production environment (temperature-controlled, wet/dry areas)
