Overview The client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead transmission and distribution (T&D) utility projects in the Syracuse, NY region. This role is responsible for managing all phases of underground and overhead construction projects, ensuring safe execution, budget control, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction. The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact between field operations, engineering, subcontractors, and utility stakeholders.

Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $135,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Manage full lifecycle of T&D projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.

Oversee underground and overhead construction activities such as duct bank installation, cable pulling, pole setting, tower erection, and conductor stringing.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.

Coordinate with field superintendents, subcontractors, and utility representatives to ensure timely and compliant execution.

Lead project meetings, track progress, and resolve issues impacting scope, schedule, or cost.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and utility specifications.

Review engineering drawings, permits, and construction documents for accuracy and feasibility.

Manage change orders, RFIs, and project documentation.

Support commissioning and energization activities in collaboration with testing and QA/QC teams.

Provide regular reporting to internal leadership and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in utility project management, with a focus on transmission and distribution systems.

Proven track record managing underground and overhead construction projects.

Strong understanding of utility standards, permitting processes, and regulatory compliance in New York State.

Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore).

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and teams across various locations.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Syracuse region.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with New York utilities such as National Grid or NYPA.

OSHA 30, PMP certification, or equivalent project management credentials.

Familiarity with union labor environments and collective bargaining agreements.

Knowledge of SCADA systems, protection schemes, and commissioning protocols.
