Job Description: Transmission Construction Manager
Position Overview:
The Transmission Construction Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the construction of high‑voltage transmission line projects across service territory. This role ensures all field activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering designs, regulatory standards, and company specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end‑to‑end construction activities for transmission line projects, including right‑of‑way clearing, foundation installation, structure erection, wire stringing, and restoration.
Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Environmental, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment on project scope, schedule, and resources.
Oversee and direct contractors and field crews, conducting pre‑construction meetings, daily briefings, and progress evaluations.
Enforce safety protocols, OSHA requirements, and environmental compliance during all construction phases.
Review transmission construction drawings, specifications, and material plans; identify and resolve field conflicts or design discrepancies.
Monitor project performance, track milestones, and manage schedules, budgets, and change orders.
Conduct quality inspections to verify proper installation of foundations, poles/towers, hardware, and conductor systems.
Communicate project status, risks, and field issues to leadership and stakeholders; prepare progress reports and closeout documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
10+ years of transmission line construction or utility construction management experience.
Strong working knowledge of transmission standards, structure types (steel, lattice, wood), foundations, and conductor stringing operations.
Proven experience managing contractors, budgets, schedules, and field logistics.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple transmission project sites.
