This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a hardworking and experienced dimensional inspection team, you will conduct system setup, automation development, measurement execution, system check, modeling and development of metrology systems to produce various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of Lunar Lander vehicle design, production, launch systems, and other test and operations.
Position Specific Details A Shift:
Monday – Thursday (5am – 3:30pm), Location: Space Coast, FL, Relocation: Available
Key Responsibilities
Configure new production work areas with the necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize any potential delays during the transition to high-rate manufacturing.
Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) and precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, etc.) to maintain high safety and quality standards.
Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency, enhancing overall productivity.
Drive the transition from development to production, proactively performing troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.
Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
Tasks involve preparing and testing payload systems and hardware by applying materials, conducting painting, sealing, composite layup, repairs, testing, and assisting with vehicle assembly and installation.
Team Focus & Domain Expertise This role will be supporting our Lunar Lander products.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
Acute spatial reasoning ability
Experience with portable metrology equipment such as Laser Trackers, Laser Radar, Photogrammetry or Laser Scanners
An understanding of large scale measurement technologies and methods.
Ability to work A, B, C and D shift as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
0-3 years Level I Support Technician
3+ Level II Support Technician
5+ Level III Support Technician
8+ SR Level Support Technician
Minimum three (3) years of practical experience or equivalent training in large volume portable metrology set-up, execution, documentation, and analysis
Experience using Spatial Analyzer or other metrology software
Ability to interpret engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5
Experience operating and working from aerial lifts
Able to lift up to 50lbs to setup equipment
Experience working with modeling programs such as CATIA or CREO
Experience using Windchill or other PLM
Maintain cleanroom or controlled environment standards as required for flight hardware integration
Knowledge of precision assembly processes and handling large aerospace components
Strong technical and leadership skills with a keen attention to detail, essential for leading teams in complex integration tasks.
Effective communication and collaboration skills in diverse teams to foster a positive work environment.
Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes, driving innovation.
Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
Willingness to work overtime.
