Job Title: MEP Project Manager
Locations: Memphis, TN or Canton, Mississippi or Brandon, Mississippi
Overview
The MEP Project Manager develops, coordinates, implements, and manages all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing facets necessary to construct the project on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. The PM provides leadership and serves as the liaison between project team members and the client to promote the interest of both Yates and the client in all matters. The PM is the primary leader for the construction project and is charged with utilizing their experience and knowledge to make expeditious decisions, model efficiency and run projects efficiently. Primary Duties
Leading in administering the safety program for the project Ensuring superintendents have the necessary trades, materials, and equipment available to efficiently construct the project Overseeing subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, etc. to support project schedule delivery and scope of work commitments Performing and overseeing project-specific QA/QC practices to ensure project is delivered to specifications and Yates’ quality standards Completing and communicating daily reports of activities scheduled and completed, along with other communications regarding project progress to all stakeholders Completing site walk-throughs to ensure safety, cleanliness, and standards are maintained Identifying and resolving field and design issues Leading meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns Representing the site team in owners’ meetings Developing and maintaining the site logistics plan for the project with the General Superintendent Developing scopes of work for each subcontractor Performing constructability reviews Arranging and leading preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors prior to beginning each phase of work Tracking field progress against the plan and assisting in recovery plans if necessary Participating in ensuring quality control aligns with the established project QA program Scheduling and leading the project close-out process Coordinating punch list items and procedures Managing the project permit process Participating in the development of strategic plans including VDC Demonstrating Yates Core Values and Principles Following Yates Code of Conduct Safety Responsibilities and Expectations Refusing unsafe work and carrying out all work per Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices Reporting incidents, near misses, and hazards to management Wearing and maintaining personal PPE Advising fellow employees of hazardous situations Participating in workplace inspections Complying with statutory requirements, including duty of care Participating in required and/or assigned training Providing suggestions to improve Safety Presenting a mature approach to working safely Attending prestart and Safety meetings and contributing Assisting with administering the site safety program as required and ensuring Trade Partner compliance with OSHA standards and Yates site requirements and all applicable safety codes Other related duties as needed and assigned by Management in support of project completion Qualifications
An undergraduate university degree or higher (preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is preferred Other relevant education, training or work experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree Minimum of five (5) years construction management experience Experience in managing trades valued at $50MM Experience with large/complex safety plan implementation PMP certified preferred Requirements
Strong working knowledge of Primavera, Excel, Word, and MS Project Experience with large/complex safety plan implementation A proven track record of organizing project teams to accomplish project goals Effective negotiation and contract management skills to represent the company with the Client Experience in managing a project using established methods of cost reporting (cash flow, safety, cost, schedule, VDC) Extensive knowledge of all facets of construction Understand contract types and terms (General Conditions, Burn Rates, Fee Analysis) Understand various insurance programs (SDI, BR policies, OCIP, CCIP) Physical Demands / Essential Job Functions
Physical requirements may include walking, standing, operating tools/equipment, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Tasks may be performed in varying weather conditions and environments as applicable to the position. About Yates Construction
