Job Summary The Quality Control Manager for a Mountain West Financial, LLC ("MWF") is responsible for overseeing and managing the comprehensive Quality Control (QC) program for all stages of the loan lifecycle: pre-closing (origination), post-closing, and servicing. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining QC policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as with agency, government (FHA, VA, USDA), and investor guidelines, with an emphasis on FHA/HUD. The manager is responsible for conducting audits, identifying defects, documenting resolution(s), and reporting findings to senior management to mitigate risk and improve loan quality.

Essential duties and responsibilities General QC Management

Develop, maintain, and update MWF's QC plan and standard operating procedures.

Develop, lead and manage the QC team, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback to ensure quality and productivity goals are met.

Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits related to quality control.

Prepare and deliver comprehensive QC reports and trend analyses to senior management and key stakeholders.

Analyze audit results to identify root causes of deficiencies and collaborate with operational departments to implement corrective action plans, including ongoing reporting development and implementation.

Stay current with changes to mortgage regulations, agency guidelines, and industry best practices.

Keep records for change management and QC program development.

Pre-Closing and Origination QC

Perform targeted reviews and audits of pre-funded mortgage loan files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to loan closing.

Validate loan documentation, including credit reports, income, asset, and appraisal verifications, against underwriting decisions and investor guidelines.

Ensure that all automated underwriting system (AUS) conditions have been properly satisfied and documented.

Review Loan Estimates (LEs) and Closing Disclosures (CDs) to confirm compliance with TRID guidelines.

Review Correspondent compliance reports to identify potential defects.

Identify and escalation any potential fraud or misrepresentation discovered during the pre-funding review process.

Post-Closing QC

Manage the monthly post-closing review process for a selected sample of loans, verifying that closing packages are accurate and complete.

Re-underwrite a percentage of closed loan files to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and investor guidelines.

Review early payment defaults (EPDs) and other high-risk loans as a part of targeted reviews.

Manage the reverification process for key loan components like employment, assets, and credit.

Collaborate with the post-closing department and other staff to address and resolve any outstanding QC conditions.

Servicing QC

Oversee regular and targeted audits of mortgage servicing activities, including loan setup, customer service interactions, escrow administration, and loss mitigation.

Confirm the data integrity of loans within the servicing system.

Review customer complaints and perform quality checks on the resolution process.

Analyze default and delinquency data to identify potential servicing defects, including correspondent scorecards.

Ensure all servicing actions adhere to investor requirements and consumer protection laws.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in the mortgage industry, with extensive knowledge of underwriting and Quality Control for conventional and government loans. Prior management or supervisory experience is required.

Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of federal and state mortgage regulations (e.g., TILA, RESPA, ECOA) and investor guidelines with a strong emphasis on FHA/HUD and Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, VA, USDA.

DE Underwriter endorsement is a plus.

Reporting structure This position reports to a MWF senior-level Compliance executive.
