Overview The Operations Manager will oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and quality standards are met while driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role is key to optimizing processes in the Engineering & Manufacturing department within the business services industry.
My client is seeking a strategic Operations Manager to lead their production and operations teams in delivering high-quality products efficiently and cost-effectively. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about driving continuous improvement across manufacturing, planning, and supply chain functions.
Description
Lead cross‑functional teams in Planning, Purchasing, Stockroom, and Operations, managing 3‑10 supervisors and up to 60 employees.
Drive product line performance through the 3 value drivers (PPP), ensuring alignment with company goals.
Collaborate on product strategy and support R&D initiatives for new and emerging products.
Develop and implement manufacturing process plans, including staffing, materials, tooling, and equipment.
Establish and maintain production and quality control standards, budgets, and cost controls.
Ensure timely delivery, cost targets, and quality benchmarks are consistently met.
Coordinate with internal departments and external suppliers to optimise resource utilisation.
Analyze production reports and resolve operational challenges to minimise delays and costs.
Maintain accurate production data and generate reports to support business decisions.
Build and maintain a robust succession plan for all direct reports.
Ensure compliance with company policies, government regulations, and customer requirements, including ITAR/EAR standards.
Profile
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; or 6+ years of relevant experience.
Proven leadership experience in manufacturing or operations management.
Prior leadership experience within a precision machining setting.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
Proficiency in manufacturing software, payroll systems, spreadsheets, and word processing tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
Familiarity with aerospace and defence industry regulations is a plus.
