Description Are you someone who enjoys the outdoors and loves to interact with the community? The City is looking for someone who is excited to make a difference while having fun educating all ages about our parks and trails.
Areas of Focus
Kids Club – Oversight of school‑age children in afterschool and day camp settings; leads activities, programs, and provides customer service to parents and caregivers.
Sports – Coaching, officiating, and scorekeeping for various youth and adult sports activities.
Senior Center – Program and reception duties including phones, setting up rooms, providing resource information to patrons, and general customer service.
Program & Reservations (Circle City Center) – Program and reception duties including phones, activity registration and permits, set‑up/tear‑down rooms, and facility monitoring for onsite and offsite reservations.
Parks – Assist with processing, approving, and posting of park permits; schedules outdoor facility use.
Passports/Circulation (Library) – Tasks include library account management using library software and serve as U.S. passport agent handling confidential information.
Shelving/Reservation (Library) – Shelve books using the Dewey Decimal System, set‑up rooms and takedown for events and operate library AV equipment.
Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and evaluate community programs, activities, and events.
Provide instruction, coaching, officiating, and preparation of play areas and fields for sports activities.
Act as liaison to parents, patrons, and participants; exercise tact and judgment when resolving problems.
Open and close City facilities; oversee and monitor facility use and rentals.
Monitor patrons and participant behavior; advise patrons on basic policies and procedures.
Perform general labor tasks and assist in preparing rooms for programs.
Respond to patron requests and provide excellent customer service.
Qualifications
18 years of age or older; high school graduation or equivalent.
One or more years working or volunteering in a community setting; at least six months of experience in planning, implementing, coaching, and overseeing programs.
A valid Class C California driver’s license; maintain insurability under City’s Vehicle Insurance Policy.
Valid CPR and first aid certification; PC 832 training completed within six months of employment.
Skills & Abilities
Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, organizes, prepares, promotes, oversees, directs, and evaluates activities and programs for various ages.
Provides participant instruction in arts, crafts, games, and confirms attendance in programs.
Coaches, officiates, and prepares play areas and fields for sports activities.
Acts as liaison to parents, patrons, and participants.
Opens and closes City facilities; ensures facilities are secure.
Monitors patrons and participant behavior; advises patrons on basic policies and procedures.
Responds to patron requests and provides excellent customer service, information and assistance to visitors.
Characteristics
An upbeat attitude, eager to participate, and actively engage in all aspects of the organization.
A passion for producing outstanding quality of work and delivering exceptional program outcomes.
