One (1) Position.
The Winter Cheer Head Coach must assume a major role in fostering cooperation and positive teamwork, exhibiting outstanding sportsmanship and fan involvement at games and special events, and most importantly, contribute to the development of our youth as future leaders. This position requires thoughtful and respectful interaction with student‑athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents, and the community. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements. The Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director and must complete an employment application, background check, and all required district, MIAA, and NFHS training annually.
Responsibilities
Be accountable for the entire program and oversee all aspects, including safety and inventory of athletic equipment.
Communicate with the Athletic Director regarding any incidents concerning student‑athletes or parental concerns.
Maintain and uphold the highest standards of student‑athlete scholarship; monitor academic performance and enforce eligibility.
Maintain and uphold the highest standards of student‑athlete sportsmanship and behavior in competition, classroom, and community.
Set up and maintain an active sports team for internal communication and with families.
Maintain and update records for student‑athlete registration and physicals/medical clearances with the Athletic Office and Nursing Office.
Provide all student‑athletes the opportunity to compete while promoting growth and sportsmanship.
Build a positive relationship with the community to promote the sport.
Demonstrate all skills, drills, and fundamentals of the sport necessary for individual and team development.
Plan, organize, and direct the entire sports program (varsity, JV1, JV2) as a cohesive unit.
Manage and take inventory of all equipment, including distribution and complete collection of all team uniforms.
Be present at all weekend activities.
Supervise athletes before practices, during/after practices, and during activities/events.
Attend all coaching meetings—internal, external, and league‑based—as assigned.
Evaluate the progress of the student‑athletes to develop and grow their potential.
Assist with fundraising and promote community support and awareness.
Plan, organize, advertise, and conduct tryouts; inform the Athletic Department and participants of final selections and maintain the integrity of the selection process.
Set scrimmages and daily practice schedules for the program.
Submit team numerical rosters to the Athletic Department at least two weeks before the first game, and update any changes to student information on the roster, inventories, final season statistics, and award lists immediately following the season.
Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct toward the opposing team, fans, parents, officials, spectators, and community.
Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the sport and experience coaching skills, techniques, and fundamentals.
Certified in CPR/Defibrillator.
Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children to solve problems.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and ability to work with all stakeholders.
Belief in commitment to increasing personal growth, both academic and socio‑emotional, to achieve the highest level of achievement for every student.

Reports to: Principal / Athletic Director. Evaluated by: Principal / Athletic Director. This position is temporary for the length of the season.

An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of NCBC (fingerprinting) and CORI prior to your start of employment.
