Responsibilities
Lead the crew to complete daily tasks related to the installation and repair of natural gas pipelines and/or joint trench utilities for power and telephone in a safe and correct manner.
Oversee crew safety, productivity, and ensure quality for each project; install and pressure test mainline and service line gas pipe; complete routine safety inspections and documentation.
Oversee the Line team and coordinate with customers, senior management, and other departments.
Oversee, coordinate, and execute work requiring open-cut or directional drill methods; obtain licenses, permits, and materials for each job.
Coordinate daily tasks, dig and place product, gain site access, and call in utilities as required.
Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections; ensure crews work safely.
Complete all paperwork in a timely manner; train new hires and trainees; track hours and submit for payroll in a timely manner.
Inspect utilities for proper identification and exposure; ensure piping is installed according to customer specifications and company standards.
Operate equipment to assist crews; maintain on-time progression and perform job restoration at project end.
Communicate with customers and inspectors; perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications Minimum
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of experience with gas pipeline construction or maintenance; 2 years of supervisory experience
Proficiency in fusing, tapping, pressure testing, and purging
CDL Class A license (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
OSHA 10 Certification
Knowledge of gas safety and operation
Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and prints
Proficiency in all phases of line construction
Commitment to safety standards and procedures per MasTec or project customer requirements
Strong customer service and ability to interact with inspectors
Experience operating heavy equipment and general construction
Color vision and depth perception; ability to identify and locate utilities and marks
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Preferred
Previous experience with Atmos Gas is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a field environment. The role requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing, and twisting. Work may occur in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind).
