Senior Payroll Coordinator – Multi-State Payroll Processing

Responsibilities
Assist in processing and oversight of weekly and bi‑weekly payroll with a strong understanding of federal and state laws related to income tax withholding and labor regulations.
Follow and develop systems to process payroll account transactions such as salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes, and third‑party payments.
Coordinate time‑keeping and payroll systems, overseeing processing of payroll changes (new hires, terminations) and maintaining accurate records; prepare and run reports in UKG (formerly UltiPro) HRIS.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.
Work with auditors and manage payroll tax audits.
Collaborate with Human Resources and accounting teams to resolve issues and answer payroll‑related questions.
Prepare and issue manual checks and same‑day wire transfers as required.
Prepare required monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including year‑end and tax reconciliation.
Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years of related multi‑state payroll experience preferred; familiarity with UKG (formerly UltiPro), SAP, ADP, Kronos, and MS Office (especially Excel).
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting or a Business‑related field preferred; equivalent payroll experience may be considered.
Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws with an excellent understanding of multi‑location payroll and taxes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to protect highly confidential information.
Ability to work independently with little supervision, a keen eye for detail, and strong analytical and math skills.
Successful completion of references, employment verifications, background check, and drug screen required in advance of hire.
