What To Expect As a General Facilities Maintenance Technician for R&D Labs, you will be responsible for the hands-on operation, repair, and maintenance of critical laboratory systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in HVAC, mechanical, and infrastructure systems, along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a fast-paced research environment. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, support installation and repair projects, and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards. In this position, you will play an essential role in keeping specialized lab environments running smoothly, supporting both daily operations and long-term research success.
What You'll Do
Operate, maintain, diagnose, and repair facility systems in R&D lab environments, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, hydronic loops, VAVs, compressors, dryers, exhaust systems, and specialized lab equipment
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on mechanical, control, and infrastructure systems
Install, repair, and modify ductwork, piping, exhaust equipment, and HVAC components; perform brazing, soldering, and welding as needed
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Building Management Systems (BMS) such as Automated Logic, Siemens, or Ignition
Conduct inspections to ensure mechanical and electrical systems meet performance, safety, and compliance standards, with a focus on lab-specific requirements
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors during maintenance, repair, and installation projects
Support general facility maintenance tasks, respond to lab-related service requests, and adapt to evolving operational needs
What You'll Bring
5+ years of experience in mechanical or facility maintenance within industrial, commercial, or R&D environments
Associate degree or trade school completion preferred
Strong technical skills in HVAC systems, mechanical repairs, and installations, with knowledge of relevant codes and safety regulations
Experience with BMS platforms such as Automated Logic, Siemens, or Ignition
Familiarity with laboratory facility needs, including ventilation, cleanroom support, and specialized utilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Expected Compensation $32.00 - $60.70/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
