What to Expect As a Tesla Automation Maintenance Technician, you will ensure operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment. Apply technical skills to install, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation, and robotics. Work with process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime. You will be a first‑responding problem solver managing machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running. The position is physically demanding: work in tight spaces, walk and stand throughout the day, bend, squat, kneel, climb ladders, and work at heights using fall protection harnesses. Max load lift up to 50 lbs. and use hand and power tools.
What You'll Do
Perform preventative maintenance on industrial production and mechatronics equipment
Conduct repairs on production‑down equipment across all line cells
Execute corrective maintenance on electrical systems (24 VDC to 480 VAC 3‑phase) and mechanical systems
Maintain and repair conveyor systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
Troubleshoot and fix PLCs, networks, and robotics
Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs, suppliers, or storerooms
Log all performed work and complete additional tasks as directed by management
What You'll Bring
Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience on production manufacturing equipment or equivalent training/education
Proficient verbal and written communication skills for maintenance procedures, shift pass‑downs, and documentation
Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, measure tolerances, and troubleshoot using schematic diagrams
Advanced computer skills for job‑specific applications and coaching others, with strong electrical knowledge (AC/DC voltage, diagnostics, hazards)
Skilled in pneumatics (solenoid valves, actuators, controls) and basic hydraulic system operations, with schematic reading proficiency
Ability to work off‑shifts and preferably experienced in metal working, iron working, welding, fabrication, or blueprint reading
Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands
Perform physically demanding work for up to 12 hours a day, including standing and walking on varied terrain
Lifting, pushing, and carrying up to 35 lbs., including moving 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Bending, lifting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and crawling for extended periods
Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other high structures
Use of personal protective equipment (safety glasses, shoes, coveralls, etc.) and compliance with safety rules and guidelines

Expected Compensation $32.00 – $60.70 per hour plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include additional elements based on the position offered.
