HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our Quality Team as a Supervisor, Facility Quality Assurance.
Summary The Supervisor, Facility Quality Assurance is a specialized and critical position accountable for contributing to HWIs overall business performance by assuring compliance with legal regulations and the companies established Quality Assurance controls, specifications, and standards, such as ISO regulations.
Responsibilities
Supervising team of quality assurance technicians and leading QA initiatives, to include but not limited to planning QA activities, scheduling staffing needs and providing training and coaching opportunities to develop QA knowledge
Planning, executing and overseeing inspection and testing of incoming and outgoing product to confirm quality conformance to specifications and quality deliverables
Analyzing and investigating product complaints or reported quality issues to ensure closure in accordance with company guidelines and external regulatory requirements
Managing and ensuring effective and efficient implementation of all quality related processes and procedures to ensure compliance to ISO9001 standard
Managing product formula batch cards
Supporting HarbisonWalker Internationals continuous improvement activities related to plant quality functions
Requirements
Requires one (1) to five (5) years experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a refractory related industry.
Requires an education typically acquired through a formal 2-year program (associate's degree or technical degree); or equivalent knowledge and experience.
Requires knowledge and familiarity with ISO9001:2000 Quality Management System.
Requires interpersonal and supervisor skills (superiors, peers, subordinates).
Requires manufacturing process experience.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Physical Activity: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time using hands/fingers to handle and/or feel, reaching with hands/arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; less than 1/3 of time standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, tasting.
Lifting: Requires lifting up to 50 pounds less than 1/3 of the time
Vision: Requires accurate close, distance, color and peripheral vision with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time exposed to wet or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, exposed to extreme heat or cold, or at risk of vibration; less than 1/3 of time in and office setting with limited exposure, working in high precarious places, exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, exposed to outdoor weather conditions, at risk of electrical shock, working with explosives or at risk of radiation.
Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise.
