Job Summary The Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project seeks an Associate Community Education Coordinator to support educational and art programming at state correctional facilities. The role collaborates closely with APAEP staff to create learning environments for students across Alabama, assists in program development, provides support to instructors and students, ensures compliance with APAEP policies, and maintains all APAEP databases. The position requires strong organization, detail‑orientation, and the ability to thrive in regimented settings. Administrative experience managing complex record‑keeping systems and extensive Office 365 proficiency are essential.
Essential Functions
Data entry for class records and program databases, maintaining confidential print and digital records
Preparation of educational and training materials for all Community Education classes
Communication with instructors on weekly reports and paperwork
Co‑ordination of the Books Behind Bars project
Promotion of APAEP social media presence
Support for visiting classes at an Alabama facility, when required
Support of Re‑Entry Guide Development
Organization of remote education materials
Assisting with other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
2 years of experience providing educational services.
Substitution policies: Relevant experience may substitute for education (two years of experience per year of required education) and vice versa.
Desired Qualifications
Punctuality, exceptional communication, and record‑keeping skills.
Extensive experience in Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and cloud storage systems.
Direct experience with the carceral system.
Exceptional professionalism and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and meet deadlines.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Experience in administrative and organizational roles.
