Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services, Dixon Correctional Institute, Jackson, LA. Responsibilities
This position oversees the Vocational Tech Shop work.
Train and mentor inmates on shop work and multitask projects to ensure safety and productivity.
Position Details Appointment Type : Probation, or promotion of a permanent, classified Louisiana State employee
Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.
An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to permanent promotion.
Posting may be used to fill a temporary vacancy; if a permanent position becomes available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Pay Note:
The stated pay range reflects maximum salary amounts over a career, not the amount for a new hire.
Qualifications Education and experience requirements include one of the following:
Five years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus two years in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR
Bachelor’s degree plus two years in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR
Advanced degree in a relevant field (social science, public health, counseling, social work, rehabilitation services, business, public or health administration, or Juris Doctorate) plus one year in related experience.
Experience Substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university equals one year of experience toward the six-year requirement; maximum substitution is 120 semester hours (up to four years). Official job specifications are available online.

Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
