To perform installation, maintenance, alterations and repair of plumbing systems and related equipment. Qualifications:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills and/or ability necessary. High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school diploma, certificate, or equivalent, plus two years’ experience in a position-related field. Maintain certifications and licenses necessary for the completion of job-related skill. Must hold Master Plumber’s License. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, schematics, and operation and maintenance manuals. Sufficient knowledge of the principles and theories of heating, air conditioning, plumbing and control voltage electricity. Ability to install, modify, trouble-shoot, repair and perform maintenance on a wide variety of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems and equipment. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, snow plows, and any trade specific tool or piece of equipment assigned for the performance of duties. Sufficient mathematic skills, sight and dexterity to properly perform job and related maintenance tasks. Knowledge of safety regulations, proper methods for using position-assigned tools and equipment, and procedures for working in areas with asbestos containing materials. Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, lift and/or exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, lift and/or exert up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to perform tasks at different height levels and in hard to reach places (e.g., ladders, scaffolding, crawl spaces, attics). Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple responsibilities. Ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, parents, and the public in a professional manner. Must have and maintain a valid state vehicle operator’s license and a good driving record. Must meet DASD procedures for transporting students (including motor vehicle record check). Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements. Click here for more information about required clearances. Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment. Duties & Responsibilities:

(Abbreviated - Please review the attached job descriptions for more details on this specific opportunity) Works independently and with others to accomplish assignments and work orders. Performs general maintenance tasks and provides customer service in regard to school operations. Performs skilled technical work in installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of domestic water systems, storm sewers, and gas piping following recognized procedures and techniques of the plumbing trade. Performs general snow removal, and salting (de-icing). Uses proper safety procedures and complies with all safety regulations, especially relating to use of tools, equipment, ladders, cleaning chemicals, hazardous work conditions, and weather conditions. Completes general maintenance tasks under the direction of the Supervisor of Maintenance to accommodate school functions and events, including event set-up and logistics for buildings and grounds activities and facilities use. Communicates with staff, parents, children, and public regarding general maintenance repairs. Repairs and/or reports any building and/or grounds safety and security issues to a supervisor. Ability to drive various modes of transportation to travel throughout the District, and to operate equipment to perform general maintenance. Cleans and maintains vehicle/equipment for monthly inspection. Performs the work described herein without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself or others. Constantly required to demonstrate good judgment and safety precautions. Works such additional hours and days as may be assigned to complete functions on a timely basis. Trade Specific: Perform plumbing tasks to include: a) Installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems, water, gas, sewage and related equipment; b) Preventative maintenance on all types of plumbing equipment; c) Maintain all plumbing distribution systems to comply with Board of Health regulations. Perform boiler operator tasks: Checking operation, maintaining and repairing low pressure oil and gas fired boilers, and related equipment; preventative maintenance on boilers and piping. Respond to work orders to repair and maintain building mechanical systems, electrical and plumbing. Familiarity with building mechanical systems. Perform inspections of service and contract jobs to evaluate contractor compliance with contract documents and trade standards. Coach and lead other district staff in the execution of boiler plant and plumbing tasks. Ensure safety equipment is provided and used, and that safety procedures are followed.
