Scope of Role The Maintenance Manager is responsible for fostering a proactive and safe work environment, and collaborating with other departments to support overall organizational goals. This role is broad and pivotal to ensuring the smooth operation of Red's plant and equipment. Principal Accountabilities Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Any other duties as assigned. Key Functional Skills/Knowledge Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; OR six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Identify preventative maintenance problems or anomalies and identify appropriate solutions Communicate and coordinate effectively with employees verbally and in writing Communicate and coordinate effectively with vendors and customers verbally and in writing Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service Act in accordance with Red’s Values and Leadership Competencies Physical Demands Continuous standing in one location for long periods (up to 2-3 hours before break); up to 10-hour shifts Climbing or moving on ladders, steps, stairwells, walkways, and platforms, Carrying, lifting, lowering, pushing and pulling of heavy and/or awkward objects or loads. Lifting and lowering of objects up to 80 lbs. Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers up to 100 lbs. Frequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching, pulling, lifting, extending, flexing the hands and arms to perform tasks. A variety of arm and hand movements are required in applying force, movement and repetition. May be subject to reach, kneel, climb, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist 66% of work shift This position operates in a professional office environment and within in the manufacturing operation. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and other office equipment. All required GMP and PPE for plant operational safety is expected to be used. Position requires ability to communicate and work well with peers. Qualifications Regular exposure to cold, hot and or humid conditions Climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations Frequently works near moving and mechanical parts Possible exposure to fumes and air borne particles Ability to work in close spaces Loud noise environment to be expected Subjected to changing of priorities, time pressures, constraints and high level of related stress May be required to use hearing, eye and toe protection when working around moving machinery Seniority level
