We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Buyer II to join our team. This role is responsible for managing vendor relationships, procurement activities, logistics coordination, and supply chain optimization to ensure materials and equipment are delivered on time, at the right cost, and to specification. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, highly organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment that requires both strategic thinking and day-to-day execution. Key Responsibilities
Supplier Management
Develop and manage local supplier relationships. Support vendor setup by validating required documentation. Monitor and report on supplier performance; drive improvements where necessary. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and purchase agreements for key suppliers. Visit local suppliers as needed to verify equipment status and delivery timelines.
Procurement & Purchasing
Issue and manage purchase order deliveries. Manage PO-to-delivery schedules and ensure on-time delivery of equipment. Support S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) by placing POs for small parts, strategic stock, and VMI inventory. Maintain accurate price books for commodity equipment. Implement and manage Kanban and VMI strategies for C inventory items. Lead equipment planning in S&OP cycles, including monthly forecasting and demand analysis.
Logistics & Operations
Lead domestic logistics efforts to optimize cost savings. Negotiate freight rates across Houston and Odessa. Support setup of hotshot trucking in Odessa.
Process Improvement & Reporting
Identify process gaps and contribute to the creation and refinement of procedures. Ensure alignment of operations with supply chain requirements (OTIF: on-time, in-full). Track and manage Kanban systems in Fishbowl ERP. Manage AP scheduling and vendor payment timelines. Prepare supplier performance and operational reports using Excel, Power BI, and other tools.
Collaboration & Flexibility
Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure supply chain objectives are met. Be available to work extended hours, after hours, and weekends as operational needs arise.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, or procurement. Background in inside sales or supply chain within the oil & gas sector (wellhead experience preferred). Proficiency in ERP systems (Fishbowl preferred), Excel, Power BI, and other MS Office applications. Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and problem-solving. Technical or college degree preferred but not required. CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management) verification preferred but not required. Willingness to travel locally to suppliers as needed. Disclaimer:
