Texas Permanent School Fund Corporation As a senior member of the Direct and Co-Investments team at the Texas Permanent School Fund Corporation (Texas PSF), you’ll play a key role in evaluating, executing, and managing private equity direct and co-investments within the Fund’s growing private markets portfolio. This is a hands-on position that supports Texas PSF’s mission to deliver strong, long-term investment returns that benefit public education across the state. Reporting to the Executive Vice President & CEO, you’ll work closely with sponsors, internal stakeholders, and other members of the investment team to assess opportunities, oversee portfolio companies, and contribute to private equity strategy development. The ideal candidate will bring at least 7 years of experience in private equity, direct investing, or institutional fund management, along with strong financial modeling skills, sound investment judgment, and the ability to guide complex transactions and mentor junior staff. Key Responsibilities Direct and Co-Investment Execution Lead sourcing, evaluation, and execution of direct and co-investment opportunities in private markets Build and review financial models, conduct capital structure and return analysis, and lead due diligence Coordinate transaction execution including legal documentation and internal approval processes Present investment recommendations and materials to the internal investment committee Fund and Portfolio Oversight Monitor performance of direct investments and private equity fund commitments Maintain communications with general partners and sponsors, review reports, and assess valuation and benchmarking data Identify risks, trends, and opportunities to improve portfolio monitoring and reporting Policy and Investment Governance Evaluate portfolio exposures, pacing, and compliance with investment policy Support negotiation and oversight of investment management agreements and related documentation Maintain internal diligence files, investment records, and deal flow tracking systems Team Leadership and Collaboration Manage and mentor a team of analysts, associates, and investment officers Promote a culture of investment rigor, professional development, and collaboration across the investment group External Engagement and Development Represent TPSF in meetings with fund managers, sponsors, and institutional peers Attend conferences, due diligence sessions, and training to stay current on market trends Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and development of best practices Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field At least 7 years of experience in private equity, venture capitalist markets, and financial modeling and underwriting Strong track record in direct and co-investment execution, including modeling and diligence Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with financial databases and reporting tools Experience writing investment memos, reviewing legal documents, and managing junior staff in an institutional environment Skills and Competencies Expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and private equity underwriting Strong knowledge of private market investment structures and execution Familiarity with legal documentation, side letters, and governance requirements Strong communication and presentation skills Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under deadlines Hybrid in-office/remote schedule based in Austin, TX Occasional travel up to 15 percent Seniority level
